The Importance of PE Teachers in Identifying Sports Talents
Is the role of PE teachers truly crucial in the early identification of sports talent in children? Given that the school system includes nearly the entire population, do PE teachers have a unique opportunity to continuously monitor students’ motor development through daily activities and systematic testing? Does their professional expertise and direct, ongoing contact with students enable them to timely recognize exceptional motor, functional, and psychosocial abilities that indicate athletic potential?
This lecture will present current research findings and examples of good practice, along with recommendations for strengthening the role of PE teachers in the structured identification and guidance of young sports talents. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of school-based physical education and the pivotal role of PE teachers in developing future athletes.
