Unlocking Athletic Potential: Evolution of Muscle Contractile Profiling in Sports Talent Identification and Development
The quest to identify and develop talent in sport has evolved dramatically over the decades, transitioning from subjective assessments to evidence-based, data-driven methodologies. At the forefront of this evolution is the integration of advanced techniques such as tensiomyography which enables non-invasive evaluation of muscle contractile properties. By synthesizing current evidence and practical applications, this lecture will demonstrate how tensiomyography-derived data can inform personalized training, injury prevention strategies, and long-term athlete monitoring, pointing towards future opportunities for enhancing talent identification and performance optimization in sport.
Short professional biography (CV)
Dr. Armin Paravlić is a distinguished researcher specializing in kinesiology and sports science. He holds positions at the Faculty of Sport, University of Ljubljana; the Science and Research Centre Koper; and Masaryk University in Brno. With over 80 peer-reviewed publications and more than 1,000 citations, his research focuses on neuromuscular function, athletic performance development, musculoskeletal rehabilitation of sport-related injuries, and exercise for health across various populations. His work has been supported by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARIS), the University of Ljubljana Development Fund, and the Slovenian Sports Foundation. He serves as a reviewer for numerous journals in the field of sports sciences. Dr. Paravlić’s contributions have significantly advanced the understanding of kinesiology, both scientifically and practically, through teaching at various levels of study and delivering professional courses for coaches in athletics, gymnastics, football, and other sports. He is also passionate about rigorous scientific writing methodology and the conduct of high-quality systematic reviews with meta-analyses.
